After tooth extraction
- Bite down on gauze for 30–45 minutes to control bleeding
- Avoid spitting, smoking, or using straws for 24 hours
- Apply an ice pack for 10–20 minutes at a time to reduce swelling
After a dental filling or crown
- Wait until numbness wears off before eating
- Mild sensitivity is normal—use a sensitive toothpaste if needed
- Call us if pain or bite feels off after 2–3 days
After root canal treatment
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until the final restoration is placed
- Expect some tenderness for a few days
- Contact us if swelling, fever, or severe pain occurs
After teeth whitening
- Avoid dark-colored foods and beverages for 24–48 hours (coffee, tea, red wine, etc.)
- Use a straw when drinking liquids to minimize staining
- Expect temporary sensitivity—this is normal
After dental implant surgery
- Take antibiotics and pain meds as prescribed
- Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling
- Keep the mouth clean, but avoid brushing the implant site for a few days
After deep cleaning
- Mild soreness or gum sensitivity is normal for a few days
- Avoid eating until numbness wears off
- Rinse with warm salt water
(1 tsp salt in 1 cup water) 2–3 times daily.
